ELECTION POSITION PACKAGES
Our Executive Council elections are held in the second semester of each academic year. Through a process of nomination, campaigning, and voting the students select their Executive Council for the following year. Terms are held from May - April of the calendar year.
The President is ultimately accountable to the entire full-time student body with respect to the day-to-day operations of the SAKC. The President is responsible for carrying out the strategic directive of the SAKC, ensuring the right plans and resources are in place to achieve the overall mission. As the official spokesperson for the SAKC, the President maintains a positive profile in representing the student body within the Fort McMurray community and to municipal, provincial and federal governments.

Vice President of Student Affairs
The purpose of this position is to ensure that all services and events offered by the SAKC best meet the needs of the student body as a whole. The Vice President of Student Affairs leads in the creation, development and execution of all services delivered to the student body and facilitates individual student complaints and concerns to achieve the best outcome for them relating to student experience. Close attention is paid specifically to advocating to the Keyano College Administration and other internal departments.
THE VP STUDENT AFFAIRS POSITION IS NOT BEING ELECTED FOR THE 2019-2020 ACADEMIC TERM. THIS POSITION IS TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED AND WILL BE RE-EVALUATED IN 2020. FOR THE 2019-20 ACADEMIC TERM, A HIRED EVENTS COORDINATOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PLANNING ALL EVENTS FOR THE YEAR.
Vice President of Internal Affairs
The purpose of this position is to ensure a direct line of communication between the SAKC and the student body. An internal communication strategy needs to be created which will include the following: social media print, on campus media outlets and face to face communication with students. The Vice President of Internal Affairs will work closely with the Vice President of Student Affairs in order to promote SAKC services and events to the students.

the GOVERNING Board

The position of Governor on the Students’ Association of Keyano College Student Governing Board is an elected or appointed position with a voting right on the highest decision making authority board of the Association. The purpose of the position is to hold the Executive Council accountable, but also ensure that the needs of the student body are communicated and addressed. The Governors receive training and professional development, not only in Student Government, but in all levels of government including municipal, provincial, and federal to ensure a well rounded understanding of the post-secondary education political climate.
The Governors also sit on the Keyano College Academic Council acting in the best interest of students in accordance with the SAKC mandate. Governors are expected to attend SGB meetings from 5:00-6:15pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month. They are responsible to communicate and get feedback from specific student programs and demographics, to attend SAKC events to support the Association and attend Academic Council meetings.
